Day of Fun

Katie and Will were in town this week for some doctor's appointments. One day, after Will's appointments, we got together for a day of fun. It was SO good to see these two! I've been dying to see my sweet friend in person and give her a big hug. Katie and Will were staying in a hotel downtown with Katie's mom. The hotel had an indoor, heated pool so our plan was to let the kids swim. The "heated" pool turned out to be too cold so we all ended up hanging out/playing on the steps of the hot tub.

This face is so Caroline...silly girl
This face sums up Will's personality...he exudes sheer joy and happiness and LOVES life...I love this kid!

After the kids' naps, we headed to Northpark for some dinner and shopping.
Throwing coins in the water
These are the faces I got when I said "smile" ;-)Watching the ducks
Eating on the patio of Luna (sorry for the overexposed pic)

Playing with an iphone and an itouch...Katie and I got to have lots of good conversation at the end of dinner because of these wonderful devices. I can't believe how well these two two-year olds can operate these things...a little scary.
Having fun doing some "girly" shopping!!
We had a blast with our friends and can't wait to see them again soon!

Weekend at the Arboretum

We had beautiful weather last weekend so we spent both Saturday and Sunday at the Arboretum. Of course, I only remembered my camera on Saturday which is a bummer because our friends, the Matthews, joined us on Sunday and Caroline had a blast playing with her buddy, Parker. Wish I had pics. Here are the pics from our outing on Saturday:
Love any pic of Caroline and her daddy holding hands!
Her favorite flowers...the purple ones
We ran into our good friends, John, Shannon and Lucy which was a really fun surprise. Caroline LOVES Lucy...they are the best of buddies! Playing in the fountains. Caroline and Lucy loved touching the water and making it spray everywhere. Caroline got soaked!

We took off Caroline's shoes and she loved running in the grass

Heading home
On our way out, we stopped at this beautiful, huge azalea bush

I love Dallas in the Spring! (wish I could say the same for summer, ha)

2 Years Old

There are SO many things I want to remember about Caroline at age 2. I'm thankful for this blog that helps me remember :-) Here are "a few" things about Caroline at 2 years old!!
Not counting the lovely two year old sassiness and defiance, Caroline has about the same personality she's had since the day she was born. She is really sweet/kind. very cautious (I'm hoping this will be a great thing during those crazy teenage years :-). more introverted like her daddy than extroverted like her mommy. sensitive. timid in new situations. shy/quiet around other people but a chatty kathy around our house. fun-loving. caring (she gets very upset if others are hurt or upset). funny like her daddy and poppop. inquisitive--she notices everything. opinionated. miss independent. and very silly.
Thanks to this fab website that Caroline is OBSESSED with, she knows most of her letters and the sounds they make. She can count to 20 but always leaves out at least one of the "teen" numbers and can id numbers 1-10. Caroline knows all of her primary colors but gets white and black mixed up. She loves to sing all.the.time and her favorite songs right now are Jesus Loves Me, Row Row Row Your Boat, and He's Got the Whole World in His Hands (these fav songs change weekly)
These are a few of Caroline's favorite things: Her number 1 favorite activity is taking care of her baby, this includes feeding, rocking, and changing Baby (that's the baby's name, baby :-)...she will make the best big sis one day, God willing. playing with puzzles. ANYTHING involving arts/crafts/stickers. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse & Dora the Explorer. dressing up in her favorite Mardi Gras necklaces. playing at the park or anywhere outside. pretty much any food except meats and veggies. blowing bubbles. games on the computer or iphone involving letters. playing hide-and-go seek. riding in the car listening to her cds. her lovie blanket and "guys" which include Elmo, Mickey, Minnie and Baby. reading books...she will "read" or sit and listen to books forever...I would say this is her 2nd favorite activity next to playing with Baby. cuddling before and after bedtimes. reading bible stories and praying at mealtimes.
These are a few of Caroline's LEAST favorite things: not getting to do something "by self"...this is the cause of most of her tantrums. two year molars. two year shots. meats & veggies. getting dirty. trying on shoes in stores. being told "no" ;-)
2 Year Schedule & Stats: Caroline sleeps from about 8 p.m. to 8 a.m. and naps from about 1-2 until 4-5 (except when she's getting 2 year molars...then she doesn't nap at all). She eats 3 meals a day without many snacks in-between...she's not a big eater.
Height: 34 inches (50th %)
Weight: 27 pounds (50th %)
Head circumference: I can't remember the exact measurement but it was in the 25th%
My most favorite thing about Caroline's age...her communication!! She is quite the talker and cracks us up daily with all her funny sayings. Here are some sentences we've heard lately or words that are "mixed up":
(while sitting on the toilet) "I need some paper toilet"
(she still gets pronouns mixed up so we hear a lot of stuff like this) "My all done", "How many are they", "Please hold you"
"Mommy, what you doin'"...I hear this a thousand times a day
"Mommy, please do me a favor"
"Whew, that was a close one"...when running from my in-laws puppy and making it safely to Mimi's arms
"When I wake up I get some chocolate and sit on potty, kay mommy?" (we aren't potty training yet...just letting her sit on the toilet)
"Jesus can climb in sky" (her response when she asked if I could touch the sky and I said "no")
I can't believe I've only known Caroline for 2 years...I feel like I've known her my whole life. Those big eyes of hers melt our hearts and we could not be more thankful for her little life. We love our sweet 2 year old!!!

You Will Be Blessed!

Hello all my blogger friends. Sorry I've been such a bad blogger lately. We've had lots of goings on but I keep forgetting to take pictures of anything, so I haven't had much to post. I'll get better soon! In the meantime, I wanted to put a link on my blog to my friend, Katie's, blog. When you have time, please visit the link and read her most recent post. It's a long post so make sure you grab a diet coke and your kiddos are watching Mickey Mouse before you sit down to read it. I promise you will be blessed by her WISE words. Katie is one of my best friends from college, and I don't have words to describe how much she means to me and how much I love her. She is a wonderful friend and just recently, when I was going through a difficult time, she supported me and loved me so well that I'll never be able to repay her for how much she helped me. Now she and her hubby, Reagan, are going through a hard time. Please visit her blog and start praying without ceasing for her family and sweet Ellie Grace. Katie, thank you for sharing your wisdom with us. I'm praying for you and love you so much!

Easter Sunday 2010

I realize this Easter post is over a week late, but I just found my camera that has been missing for a week. I had not downloaded these pics onto my computer yet, and I figure better late than never. And yay for finding my camera :-)
We had a fun Easter. Here are all the details of our day.
On Easter morning, Matt and I walked into Caroline's room with our camera and video camera singing "Happy Birthday", since it was Caroline's actual birthday on Easter. Right when we opened her door, she saw her Easter basket outside and immediately started screaming "Easter basket". We got her out of her crib and she made a beeline to her basket to see what goodies the Easter bunny left.
She immediately dove into some chocolate...wanting nothing to do with the egg after she got the candy out. I used to love eating candy for breakfast on Easter so I figured why not let Caroline enjoy the same yummy goodness.
Checkin' out the rest of her loot

This pic is of Caroline holding her new bible. We got her the same bible our church uses so we could read the same bible stories/scripture she studies at church, at home. When she saw it she said "Whoa" (pause) "a Jesus bible" Then she wanted to read a bible story right away so we read about Jesus' Resurrection and talked about why we were celebrating that Jesus is alive!!
(I know I'm biased but I think my daughter has some rockin' bedhead ;-)We got ready and went to a fabulous church service. Then we headed to my mom's house to meet my fam and Matt's fam for Easter lunch.
Caroline got some Easter goodies from Mimi...
...and Yaya. Here she is sitting with two of her favorite people in the world!

Best poses I could get of Caroline in her Easter dress...for some reason, her pretty dress didn't show up too well in any pictures. She looked cute though! (Sarah, do you recognize the dress?? Thank you!!!)

We ate a delicious lunch of brisket, deviled eggs, broccoli/rice/cheese casserole, garlic bread, salad and strawberry cake (I think I'm forgetting some of the food but that's what I remember). I just LOVE holiday food, don't you? It's always SO yummy!!
After we ate (and Caroline went down for her nap), Matt, my brother and I went on our annual Easter egg hunt. I know it sounds weird for adults to be huntin' Easter eggs but my mom fills the eggs with money so it's a very competitive endeavor. My mom-in-law got some hilarious pics of the hunt but, because this is my blog, and I don't have to embarrass myself if I don't want to...I'm not posting them ;-)
When Caroline woke up, we let her have a piece of cake and sang "Happy Birthday" to her one last time. It was a good (but tiring) day.
