At four  and a half years old, Caroline is really starting to mature (compared to last year). We are loving age 4 still...it seems to get better and better (except for the adjustment from summer to the school year, that was a rough transition...a really early bedtime during the week has helped a TON :-) Caroline has such better self-control and often obeys "right away, all the way, with a happy heart". Of course, we still see behavior that reminds us of the challenging 3 year old stage, however most of the time, she's so sweet, compliant, fun to be around, and good-natured. We hang out a lot as she is still pretty much attached to my hip. She helps me with chores, laundry, cooking, really whatever I'm doing around the house. Caroline is definitely my little buddy and would rather have adult conversation than play with toys. She's been that way ever since she was born, ha

Caroline is coming out of her shell and becoming a little more outgoing and adventurous. She now loves to ride her bike, get dirty, play in sprinklers. and try new things like sliding down the fireman pole at the park.

We've really been working on making eye contact with adults even if she feels shy (I read somewhere that dangerous people prey on kids who don't make eye contact because they interpret that as weakness in children...scary!) She has made major improvement and is so excited to get a quarter to put in her piggy bank when she can tell me the color of the eyes of the adult she's talking too.

Caroline has outgrown that toddler picky-eating stage and is a great eater! She loves most everything except potatoes and tomatoes. She'll always take a "thank you bite" even if it's something she doesn't want to eat. Her favorite is when we go to any Mexican restaurant for chips and queso.

Caroline is loving dance, not liking soccer ;-), and obsessed with playing with her friends! She's a great sleeper and  doesn't take a nap anymore (hasn't in months, however, she will have quiet time in her room for an hour and a half every day). She sleeps anywhere from 12-13 hours at night.

A huge thing that recently happened...Caroline STOPPED sucking her fingers. Woohoo! I had no idea how we were going to get her to stop. She really wanted a Dream Light so I made a sticker chart, bought some of that horrible-tasting fingernail polish, and had a heart-to-heart with Caroline. Matt and I told her about how much finger-sucking hurts her teeth and how big girls don't need to do it anymore (even if it just is at nighttime which is what she was doing). Caroline was ready to give it up and REALLY motivated by that Dream Light. Four weeks later, Caroline was free of the bad habit and had her Unicorn Dream Light. We are so proud of her...way to go, Caroline!! (glad that is behind us)

Caroline still really digs her little bro...the other day she said to him, "After God and Jesus, I love you the best!" That pretty much sums up how she feels about him. I think it's the sweetest thing she has ever said!
Other things Caroline loves at the moment: all things dress-up and princess related, reading books, drawing, writing, painting, making things for people (we, along with her friends, are constantly getting notes and drawings), crafts, riding her bike, playing at any and every park, watching Disney movies, taking showers all by herself like a "big girl", Discovery bags at school, her two pretend kitties: Purplicious & Bella, her lovie she sleeps with, coming to cuddle with us in bed in the mornings, talking on the phone (wonder where she gets this :-), playing games on the computer, taking pictures, and playdates!!!

I really can't believe my baby girl will be 5 in 6 months!!! I hope they're a slow six months so I can soak up everything about my four year old. We love you SO much, sweet Caroline!!!!!!!!
